About Deborah
Deborah Ecclesia Shacharit Sinaga approaches consulting through the lens of international affairs and policy research — a perspective that is increasingly rare and valuable in a firm advising clients on markets shaped as much by regulation and regional dynamics as by commercial opportunity. At K&A, she contributes to strategy and market research engagements, drawing on a background that spans government, international institutions, and academic research.
Deborah holds a Bachelor's degree in International Relations and Affairs from Universitas Padjadjaran (UNPAD), one of Indonesia's leading public universities. Her academic training in regional politics, international economic frameworks, and ASEAN affairs gives her a systems-level understanding of how policy environments shape business and investment climates — a valuable complement to K&A's data-driven advisory practice.
Before joining K&A, Deborah completed a research internship at ERIA (Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia), the inter-governmental research organisation jointly founded by ASEAN member states and regional dialogue partners, where she conducted research in support of ERIA's regional economic policy agenda. She also interned at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia under the Deputy for Maritime and Energy Sovereignty — gaining firsthand exposure to how Indonesia's strategic economic priorities are formulated and coordinated at the ministerial level.
Within UNPAD, Deborah served as Deputy Head of the Academic Improvement Department at BEM FISIP, Secretary of the English Speaking Union (ESU) Unpad, and Staff of External Relations at the International Relations Student Association (Hima HI Unpad) — building a track record of institutional leadership and inter-organisational coordination.

"International relations taught me that context is everything. The same policy, the same market trend, the same technology — it lands completely differently depending on the institutional environment it enters. Understanding that context is what separates a recommendation that works from one that doesn't."
