Axl Nakata is a decision architect — his term for a practitioner who doesn't just analyse data, but designs the analytical frameworks and visual narratives that enable executives to make better decisions faster. At K&A, he leads data and AI workstreams and shapes how the firm presents its work to clients, combining analytical depth with a sharp instinct for communication design.
Axl graduated from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) with a degree in Mathematics, concentrating in Financial and Industrial Mathematics — the #1-ranked programme in Indonesia by subject (QS 2025). He was a Paragon Merit Scholar and Dean's List Awardee throughout his studies, and completed an international exchange in International Business Administration at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), ranked #5 in Southeast Asia, as an IISMA Awardee.
Before joining K&A, Axl built his analytical credentials across diverse environments. At OCBC Ventura, he published monthly investment reports on Substack reaching 1,000+ readers, covering market trends across fitness, pet care, and consumer sectors. As Lead Data Analyst at Comlabs-USDI ITB, he designed and delivered data analysis training curricula in Excel, R, and Python that were adopted by over 1,000 ITB students, and led a team of 20+ analysts and lab assistants. He also served as Vice President of FMIPA ITB, leading a 76-member organisation across seven divisions.
Axl's competitive record is exceptional: 1st place at the OCBC National Investment Competition (300+ participants), 1st place at the Actuarial Case Competition MCF 2024 (50+ teams, building a pandemic insurance product with full actuarial modelling), 1st Runner Up at the Ganesha Business Festival International Mini Case Challenge (300+ participants), and 2nd Runner Up at the ITS Data Analytics Competition at ASEAN level (100+ teams), among more than 10 other national and international recognitions.
Led the data analysis workstream for a multi-country market sizing study, building financial models and visualisations presented directly to C-suite stakeholders.
Designed a full mathematical actuarial model and go-to-market strategy for a pandemic insurance product — awarded 1st place nationally out of 50+ teams.
Produced monthly investment reports for OCBC Ventura's 1,000+ public audience analysing sector-level market trends and growth metrics.
Designed comprehensive data analysis training materials (Excel, R, Python) adopted across Bandung Institute of Technology faculties, reaching 1,000+ students.
